About Local Record

Local Record reports what NSW councils decide. Each council area has its own edition. Each story comes from a council meeting webcast and the agenda the council published for that meeting.

Software writes the first draft of each story from the meeting transcript and the agenda. We hold back a story when we cannot check its addresses, names or decisions against the record. A story links to the meeting it comes from, so you can check it yourself.

Councils covered now: City of Sydney, Inner West Council, North Sydney Council. We add more council areas as their meetings come online.

Corrections

If a story misstates what happened at a meeting, the meeting recording is the record. We correct the story when the record shows an error.
